Greetings all
I want to start with a big thank you to E&B for last night's run - huge
effort in trying times to put on a great celebration for Cooch and her 20th
anniversary. A knock out Pina Colada punch set every one off in a very
jovial state and a fun circle in a park at the end of a seriously
short-cutted run, with Chicken Dicken in the highest of spirits, topped Run
1957 off nicely.
It was so good in fact that WE ARE DOING THE SAME (almost) RUN NEXT WEEK -
hopefully without the short cutting and definitely without the killer colada
*MOVING ON OVER THE NEXT FEW CORONAVIRUS IMPACTED MONTHS*
There has been quite a bit of discussion about whether we should continue
to meet on a Wednesday evening and I know some of us have very strong views
on this. Some H3 clubs have cancelled or suspended runs for the foreseeable
future others have decided on BAU.
Official advisories and conditions and constraints on gatherings are
changing daily and we will need to be flexible enough to be responsive to
this but for now we have decided that:
1. LH3 will continue to set a weekly run.
2. Runs will start and finish in an open space where social distancing
is possible.
3. Circle will be at the end of the run - with down down drinks but
there will be no meal provided
4. Everyone is to bring their own drinking vessels for down down's and
other drinks if they want additional drinks
5. If any members want a meal they can organise it separately - maybe
with take away and support a local business.
These are trying times and it is going to be tricky but I sensed enough
enthusiasm among members that I am certain we can make this work.
*Members must absolutely choose to do what is right for them - come along
and take care or withdraw until this period has passed - it is all personal
best choice.*
Hares may need to step up as members who withdraw are not available to set
runs - thanks to those who have already anticipated this and offered 🙏
Finally - as a GM's call and while we are going through this phase - all H3
events organised by Hashers and attended by LH3 members will be official
LH3 events - you can sign them in the book and they will count as runs.
The logic behind this decision is that H3 is about social connection as
much as it is about the runs and I want to place appropriate value on
this. I am assuming that no one will have a real issue with this but if any
one does either my GMship or the Coronavirus will have run their course and
it will change back.
Thanks everyone for your support and commitment to LH3
Please give thought to the course of action you want to take and do what is
best for you.
I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL AT FUTURE RUNS - WHENEVER

Hi All,
Just to let you know, I’ve set a “community style” or “hash style” trail in Lakeside arrows around Richmond. It’s actually a re-hash of my anniversary run I set last week (which I mucked up after too many champagnes and cocktails); so I’ve re-set it so my neighbors and gym friends and fellow hashers and single runners and mums and dads and kids and dogs can do it when they are going around the twist with boredom.
So please feel free to run my trail or walk it - only proviso being to NOT MARK THRU the checks or make any further markings as it will be (hopefully) used over the next 2 weeks.
Arrows will lead you on a circuitous route. You’ll see arrows out front and back of Victoria Gardens, or corner of Buckingham and Johnson street in Richmond, or corners of Bridge/Church or corner of Bridge and Coppin Streets.
Let me know if you have a go.

That’s great, Teflon. There’s also this hash being hosted virtually on Thurs eves too. They encourage everyone to walk/run 5km before circle. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2502043920111627/?ref=share

Well done E & B. Great idea!!
FYI, Ballarat Hash is continuing on after no hash last week for the first time since 1983. We are getting together tomorrow night at 7pm for a ‘Zoom Hash Circle’. So we’ll wear hash gear and BYO grog, down down glass, chair and food. Think I’ll do a run in the bush near home before the virtual circle. This will be a different way to hash!!
Stay well.

One TINY mistake! And it reduced a 7 km run to 2km! OMG... actually there were 3 mistakes :
1. I shared 3 or 4 bottles of bubbles for morning tea;
2. I did not reccee the run on paper;
3. I set a check in the first early stage of the run and forgot about it by the time I got to the latter stage where I placed an arrow within about 40 paces! Dah!!
Lesson to all: draw your trail on a map and consider all possibilities.
Anyway - lucky for plenty of pina colada and bucks fizz which enabled all to see the fun side.
11 turned up to celebrate 20years of wedlock. No kissing or hugging took place. A new hasher, Natasha, was welcomed. And Mountain Goat Brewery was open for on on on.
A happy start to a new way of hashing in Melbourne.

Hi All.
The public messages are being repeated more and louder about proactively
restricting socializing. I'm suspecting that hash attendance will be
reduced tomorrow night and so to help ease the stress I, as the hare,
thought we'd do the run and a drink stop and stop there.
No food.
BYO mug and hand to me to take to the DS.
Don't hug anyone.
There'll be no dips; no food to share; just drinks in a park. Cyclone will
probably want to have a quick circle so we can discuss future hashing during
the crisis.
Then early departure so you can all go home for dinner. (You'll just have
to walk back to your car.)
Over and out!
