Hi Lakesiders.
Just as a reminder, there are two runs this week.
If you're a Baysider you might like to trot along to Royal Peninsula HHH's
AGM on Tuesday night. It has gained itself an official Lakeside run number,
so it would be great if some Lakesiders could come and pal E&B.
And then of course there's our annual St Patricks Day Run, hared by Back
Again, but I strongly suspect there's one of Ned's descendants playing a
strong hand in it.
Details are:
Run # 1991
Date: Tuesday 16 March 2021
Venue: Club 27, 10 Aldershot Drive, Langwarrin
Occasion: Royal Peninsula HHH Annual General M.
Run # 1992
Date: Wednesday 17 March 2021
Venue: Dendy Park, East Brighton
Occasion: St Patricks Day - SO WEAR GREEN AND DRINK GREEN BEER

Hi All.
Just in case you're having trouble booking into the Enclave cabins in
Healesville for our weekend run away, there are some other comparable
accommodations that I'd suggest you try.
The following are from Booking.com and are all available for single night
stays too if you want to drive up on Saturday morning and stay only Saturday
night.
. There's the Healesville Motor Inn - on Maroondah Hwy on the way in
to Healesville - $290 for two nights.
. BIG 4 on Don Road - just (further away from town) down the road
from the Enclave at $238 for two nights.
. Sanctuary House Resort which is close by to Enclave via some back
streets without going into town - $242 for 2 nights.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
You are invited to join our La Trobe Archaeology Zoom webinar at 8:30 pm on Thursday, 11 March (Australian Eastern Daylight Time [AEDT]).
Professor José Iriarte (University of Exeter) will speak on the topic 'An Ice Age Art Gallery in Amazonia? The End of the Journey Project.'
Despite being well-known for remarkable civilisations such as the Moche and Inca, the early settlement of South America has remained obscure until recent times, and the development of complex society in the continent had long been thought to trail Mesoamerica to its north. Now we have long tent-houses dating 14,000 years old at the tip of southern Chile, and the earliest urban complexes in the Americas at Caral and Aspero in Peru, predating the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Professor Iriarte's research has revealed earth-building societies stretching for hundreds of thousands of square kilometres across Amazonia and a sophisticated agroforestry tradition developed in the region. Most spectacular of all is his discovery of rock art galleries in Colombia, stretching over 12 kilometres long, that depict a plethora of extinct animals dating to 12,500 years ago.
Register in advance for the seminar at the following link by 5pm, Thursday 11 March (AEDT).

Hi Lakesiders.
A "Newsletter"- hell! What's happening?
Well, at our joint run last week with Western Suburbs, their GM (Rambo) made
a few announcements. (Sorry to those who missed the circle. It was a cold
night and obviously too cold for those who did not wear their thermals and
ski jackets.) Rambo made us all aware of the following special events
happening with our fellow Melbournian hash chapters. Please make a note of
them. It would be really nice for a bunch of Lakesiders to attend:
Tues 16 Mar 21 Royal Peninsula H3 AGPU in Langwarren
Tues 23 Mar 21 Western Suburbs H3 AGPU
Tue 31 Mar 21 Happy's 1000th Run at Oakleigh RSL
Thur 15 Apr 21 Melbourne Ladies AGPU at Mitcham Hotel
Tues 20 Apr 21 Doona's 1000th Run at North Fitzroy Arms
Sun 27 Jun 21 Full Moon AGPU
Lakeside Events - PLEASE take special note:
Wed 19 May 21
LSH3 2000th Run - special long sleeved shirt to commemorate
Fri-Sun 21-23 May 21
Please RSVP for this event ASAP - just so we know we have the best date for
as many as possible of us to attend
LSH3 Weekend away in Healesville including gin distillery, brewery & steam
train
Sat: LSH3 Run # 2001 - in Healesville
Sun: LSH3 Run # 2002 & Recovery breakfast and Steam Train ride in
Healesville
Wed 14 Jul 21
LSH3 AGM
It would be really helpful if we could get a "show of hands" or any response
to these above Lakeside events (especially the weekend away). We'll be
calling for volunteers to help out as well.
See you at the Hash!
On On.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
You are invited to join our La Trobe Archaeology Zoom webinar at 3:00 pm on Thursday, 4 March (Australian Eastern Daylight Time [AEDT]), the opening presentation in our First Semester program for 2021.
Professor Adam Brumm (University of Queensland) will speak on the topic 'Pigs, popcorn, and the Pleistocene rock art of Sulawesi'
In recent decades, Australian researchers have featured prominently in exploring the early archaeological record of island South East Asia. Professor Brumm's work has now augmented a series of spectacular discoveries by uncovering what may be the world's earliest figurative painting tradition.
Register in advance for the seminar at the following link by 12 noon, Thursday 4 March (AEDT).

To all!
A lovely group of Lakesiders (and two visitor/virgins/newcomers) joined in
for some fun at Inverloch on Saturday 20th February to celebrate Bollywood's
birthday.
Botak Chin set the run through the suburb of Inverloch, winding around the
streets, up the hill, and then down through the camping ground and to the
eastern end of town to the Bass Coast Shir Council's Native Vegetation
Offset Scheme is located. He sent the runners up the path on a loop to look
for the wildlife while the walkers were sent back along the beach. The tide
was way out in Anderson Inlet. Lots of families were on the beach playing
cricket and going out in the sea up to their knees. (I don't think it got
much deeper than that.) Eventually the arrows - which along the beach were
a bit sparse - got us to the Inverloch yacht club where Botak had arranged
for us to have drinks on the back deck. We waited for Udder and Gargoyle to
turn up - they had missed the arrows and hadn't listened to the instructions
and actually ended up back at the start. We drank another bottle of plonk
while we waited. That's when we also realised that cheap 6% white wine from
ALDI is not worth buying or drinking! When we finished the stuff we
wandered back to the start for the down downs and then Botak's baked chicken
drumsticks, Bollywood's oodles of noodles and E&B's chocolate pavlova.
All finished up just before sunset and we wandered off in different
directions.
The run was scored 1980 out of 1987. The walk was a little lower at 1900.
We all agreed that more weekend runs were required!
See happy snaps attached.
