Greeting Lakesiders
I hope you have all made it through the worst of the restrictions and have
managed to hang on to your sanity and sense of humour - if only by a thread.
A bit of news to catch up on now that we are in the very early stages of
coming out of our isolation - I know that for a few of us we will be seeing
family, grandchildren and elderly parents for the first time in months this
weekend 🙏. (some of us are actually those elderly parents🙄) - others will
be pleased to see light at the end of the tunnel for home schooling.
There have been a few efforts to keep our members engaged and opportunities
for virtual catch-ups throughout the last few weeks and a few changes to
let you know about
Zoom catch-up's have been organised by E&B and Backbeard on Wednesday
evenings at 7.30 - the link is in emails from E&B and has usually been
updated sometime on the Wednesdays. It is super easy to join in - anyone on
the call can invite you in - so if you are having trouble just call someone
who you think might be on the call.
There are a couple of other zoom groups going too - also by invitation -
and keeping some members connected.
There have been a few efforts to give members the opportunity to join in
some exercise - E&B has set a couple of local walks in Richmond and has a
park yoga group. - but with travel restrictions these have not been
accessible to those of us who live outside the Richmond area. Others - who
live alone - have been able to manage to walk / run in pairs keeping the
social distancing and socialising rules.
Now that the restrictions are beginning to relax there is some discussion
and renewed efforts to see how we can manage a slow start back - within the
rules and respecting individuals choices based on their own circumstances.
At the moment this is a bit organic and being driven by enthusiasm and good
will - I actually think this is a good thing - this is where innovation and
good ideas start and take on a new life. We will get back to formal
processes - through the committee - at some stage in the near future I
expect.
As I see it - the only boundaries should be that we strictly adhere to the
Victorian Government restrictions and rules and don't put the club - or any
individuals at risk of a breach and that we all *respect *that as
responsible adults we can all make sensible decisions in our own best
interests. Everyone's pace back will be different and I think it is
important that when things are normal again everyone feels supported and we
are a united club again.
Klingon set a great walk / run last night - a small group and very easy to
manage distancing - big circles (except the virtual ones) are a long way
off - but for those in a position to join in it is a great way for easing
back. Thanks for the effort Klingon.
A bit of sad news - Astro Boy and Cut Loose have decided to resign for the
committee. They have both put in a mammoth effort and I am really sorry
that I will see my term out without their support. Astro has been a whiz at
keeping an eye on the books and Cut
All went well with the run. Six people came, plus
hare. 3 runners, 3 walkers: IME, Chicken Dicken,
4 Pack; Cyclone, Peanuts, Let Me Look.
No rules broken, no risk taken, no cause for alarm, no cause for objection.
After the run, people went home or stayed for a
quick drink. We linked up with the zoom meeting.

Egg & Bacon Pie is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting next week. Mark the password and details (see below) in your diary and join us.
Tonight Egg & Bacon Pie hosted the zoom circle and pretty much stuffed it up. She sort of remembered something going askew (probably a brain cell) when she was setting up a week before and so the inevitable happened : hashers were waiting impatiently banging down the virtual door to get in but there was no entry without a password.
Anyway eventually they were all let in when they said their pleas and thank yous and we proceeded with appropriate bullshit for the next 20 minutes... until... Klingon interrupted from the OFFICIAL hash run at his place and he didn’t have anything to get in with - not even a plea or thank you. So we had the pleasure of the company of Let Me Look, sitting dangerously socially unacceptably close to Klingon in his kitchen.
We noted and met up with (albeit briefly) the turnpikes of Cyclone and Peanuts at Klingon’s walk.
And Chicken Dicken finally turned up to say hello, after he had run Klingon’s run. Also at Klingon’s was IME, from now on who will be referred to as Let Me Look’s Souvineer (thanks to Hooray CO).
Four Pak apparently got lost on Klingon’s run.
Regular attendees and contributors were Backbeard, Bollywood, Cheesecake, Hooray CO, NickelB, Point Post, Swingers.
Nobody but the overly fit, enthusiastic, young at heart, vivacious Egg & Bacon Pie claimed to accept and actually pass Cheesecakes challenge, by Walking the Goat Track twice on Mother’s Day, again yesterday and a walk around Richmond today after forcing her mother-in-law to sing Scotland the Brave before she could have her lunch. The grand prize went to Egg & Bacon Pie.
One more chance at fame was offered by Cheesecake: run or walk between 20-25km by next Wednesday and report it at next week’s zoom meeting.
Note the following or forever hold your piece (!):

Lakesiders!
For those not doing the actual run from Klingon's tomorrow, Lakeside's 5th
zoom meeting will take place, as scheduled, tomorrow night at 7.30 - as it
has done since the partial lockdown.
Last week we were offered the challenge of running/walking or whatever 25km
from last week's zoom meeting to this week's zoom meeting.
I am still suggesting we have a hash background included in your visit.
So come along to your own living room, in your hash gear, with your favorite
hash mug and drink; tell us about how you went in the challenge (where you
ran/walked over how many days, even if it was a bad dream!).

Greetings all
I want to start with a big thank you to E&B for last night's run - huge
effort in trying times to put on a great celebration for Cooch and her 20th
anniversary. A knock out Pina Colada punch set every one off in a very
jovial state and a fun circle in a park at the end of a seriously
short-cutted run, with Chicken Dicken in the highest of spirits, topped Run
1957 off nicely.
It was so good in fact that WE ARE DOING THE SAME (almost) RUN NEXT WEEK -
hopefully without the short cutting and definitely without the killer colada
*MOVING ON OVER THE NEXT FEW CORONAVIRUS IMPACTED MONTHS*
There has been quite a bit of discussion about whether we should continue
to meet on a Wednesday evening and I know some of us have very strong views
on this. Some H3 clubs have cancelled or suspended runs for the foreseeable
future others have decided on BAU.
Official advisories and conditions and constraints on gatherings are
changing daily and we will need to be flexible enough to be responsive to
this but for now we have decided that:
1. LH3 will continue to set a weekly run.
2. Runs will start and finish in an open space where social distancing
is possible.
3. Circle will be at the end of the run - with down down drinks but
there will be no meal provided
4. Everyone is to bring their own drinking vessels for down down's and
other drinks if they want additional drinks
5. If any members want a meal they can organise it separately - maybe
with take away and support a local business.
These are trying times and it is going to be tricky but I sensed enough
enthusiasm among members that I am certain we can make this work.
*Members must absolutely choose to do what is right for them - come along
and take care or withdraw until this period has passed - it is all personal
best choice.*
Hares may need to step up as members who withdraw are not available to set
runs - thanks to those who have already anticipated this and offered 🙏
Finally - as a GM's call and while we are going through this phase - all H3
events organised by Hashers and attended by LH3 members will be official
LH3 events - you can sign them in the book and they will count as runs.
The logic behind this decision is that H3 is about social connection as
much as it is about the runs and I want to place appropriate value on
this. I am assuming that no one will have a real issue with this but if any
one does either my GMship or the Coronavirus will have run their course and
it will change back.
Thanks everyone for your support and commitment to LH3
Please give thought to the course of action you want to take and do what is
best for you.
I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL AT FUTURE RUNS - WHENEVER
