Dear Friends and Colleagues,

You are invited to join our La Trobe Archaeology Zoom webinar at 8:30 pm on Thursday, 25 March (Australian Eastern Daylight Time [AEDT]).

Dr Lorena Becerra-Valdivia (Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, UK) will discuss ‘A chronology to the initial peopling of the Americas.’

For many decades, a kind of time barrier set at about 15,000 years ago resisted archaeologists’ attempts to demonstrate earlier settlement of North America, despite many intriguing possibilities.  Recently, that has all changed. Ancient DNA studies have thrown new light on the origins and movements of the first American settlers, and now much earlier sites have been found and are being precisely dated by researchers such as our guest tonight.

Register in advance for the seminar at the following link by 5:00pm, Thursday 25 March (AEDT).
