Hi All,
Just to let you know, I’ve set a “community style” or “hash style” trail in Lakeside
arrows around Richmond. It’s actually a re-hash of my anniversary run I set last week
(which I mucked up after too many champagnes and cocktails); so I’ve re-set it so my
neighbors and gym friends and fellow hashers and single runners and mums and dads and kids
and dogs can do it when they are going around the twist with boredom.
So please feel free to run my trail or walk it - only proviso being to NOT MARK THRU the
checks or make any further markings as it will be (hopefully) used over the next 2 weeks.
Arrows will lead you on a circuitous route. You’ll see arrows out front and back of
Victoria Gardens, or corner of Buckingham and Johnson street in Richmond, or corners of
Bridge/Church or corner of Bridge and Coppin Streets.
Let me know if you have a go.

Sorry its been a while, I hope this email finds you all well. I just wanted to make a
little suggestion for the GM's and members consideration. We are all facing
unprecedented times of uncertainty and isolation and the one thing we all need more than
anything is social connection and stability. I think it a very wise decision to suspend
the hash for the foreseeable future but I wondered whether setting up a virtual catch up
might help everyone in this challenging period. I'm sure some of you are familiar with
Zoom, or have at least heard of it. It is an online platform that allows a group of people
to meet remotely via video link (or phone if you don't have internet or a computer).
Everyone could go out and do their run/walk if they want then meet online after for a
drink and a chat after say at 7.30 on a Weds? Or whatever works!
I set one up yesterday for a colleague/friend whose 50th birthday it was and we
couldn't have drinks together... this gives you an idea of how it works... (ignore
the photo of me... I was concerntrating on getting the screen shot 😉).

Anyway, just an idea... happy to help set up if people are keen. Its super easy, everyone
will just get an email with a link and click on the link at the time of the meeting and
that's it! It will ask you to use the microphone and camera (if you have one) - just

call the phone number, and enter the meeting pin).

wanted to make a little suggestion for the GM's and members
consideration.
We are all facing unprecedented times of
uncertainty and isolation and
the
one thing we all need more than anything is
social connection and
stability. I think it a very wise decision to suspend the hash for the
foreseeable future but I wondered whether setting up a virtual catch up
might help everyone in this challenging period. I'm sure some of you
are
familiar with Zoom, or have at least heard of it.
It is an online
platform
that allows a group of people to meet remotely
via video link (or phone
if
you don't have internet or a computer).
Everyone could go out and do
their
run/walk if they want then meet online after for
a drink and a chat
after
say at 7.30 on a Weds? Or whatever works!
I set one up yesterday for a colleague/friend whose 50th birthday it
was
and we couldn't have drinks together... this
gives you an idea of how
it
works... (ignore the photo of me... I was
concerntrating on getting the
screen shot 😉).
Anyway, just an idea... happy to help set up if people are keen. Its
super
easy, everyone will just get an email with a link
and click on the link
at
the time of the meeting and that's it! It
will ask you to use the
microphone and camera (if you have one) - just say yes. If you don't
have a
computer (or smartphone), you can dial in via
phone (just call the
phone
number, and enter the meeting pin).

I set one up yesterday for a colleague/friend whose 50th birthday it
was
and we couldn't have drinks together... this
gives you an idea of how
it

One thing to remember. The 'free' use of Zoom is limited to 40 minutes.
That is not the meeting length, but how long a tight-ass (like me) can be
connected.
So once dropped out, you can immediately reconnect.

One thing to remember. The 'free' use of Zoom is limited to 40 minutes.
That is not the meeting length, but how long a tight-ass (like me) can be connected.
So once dropped out, you can immediately reconnect.

foreseeable future but I wondered whether setting up a virtual catch up
might help everyone in this challenging period. I'm sure some of you

familiar with Zoom, or have at least heard of it.
It is an online

that allows a group of people to meet remotely
via video link (or phone

you don't have internet or a computer).
Everyone could go out and do
their
run/walk if they want then meet online after for
a drink and a chat
after
say at 7.30 on a Weds? Or whatever works!
I set one up yesterday for a colleague/friend whose 50th birthday it
was
and we couldn't have drinks together... this
gives you an idea of how
it
works... (ignore the photo of me... I was
concerntrating on getting the
screen shot 😉).
Anyway, just an idea... happy to help set up if people are keen. Its

FYI, Ballarat Hash is continuing on after no hash last week for the first time since 1983.
We are getting together tomorrow night at 7pm for a ‘Zoom Hash Circle’. So we’ll wear
hash gear and BYO grog, down down glass, chair and food. Think I’ll do a run in the bush
near home before the virtual circle. This will be a different way to hash!!

Just to let you know, I’ve set a “community style” or “hash style” trail in Lakeside
arrows around Richmond. It’s actually a re-hash of my anniversary run I set last week
(which I mucked up after too many champagnes and cocktails); so I’ve re-set it so my
neighbors and gym friends and fellow hashers and single runners and mums and dads and kids
and dogs can do it when they are going around the twist with boredom.
So please feel free to run my trail or walk it - only proviso being to NOT MARK THRU the
checks or make any further markings as it will be (hopefully) used over the next 2 weeks.
Arrows will lead you on a circuitous route. You’ll see arrows out front and back of
Victoria Gardens, or corner of Buckingham and Johnson street in Richmond, or corners of
Bridge/Church or corner of Bridge and Coppin Streets.
Let me know if you have a go.
