I agreed with your statement below, which was correctly based on the information available at the time.  I also stand by my position that while it remains a matter for personal choice then every hasher should be able to make their own choice on whether to attend H3 events or not.

Given the changes that have occurred in the last 24 hours and the statement by the Premier of Victoria this morning, that all non-essential travel and that all non-essential activities should not occur, Punch and Kokup will be acting in accordance with that advice and will not be attending H3 events until the situation changes.  At the same time, we will not be criticising or attempting to influence others in their choice of actions.

Our position extends beyond H3, including family events.

Subject: [News] Fwd: [Members] In response to Coronavirus LH3 Runs for the next few months -( and last night's run)

Greetings all

I want to start with a big thank you to E&B for last night's run - huge effort in trying times to put on a great celebration for Cooch and her 20th anniversary. A knock out Pina Colada punch set every one off in a very jovial state and a fun circle in a park at the end of a seriously short-cutted run, with Chicken Dicken in the highest of spirits, topped Run 1957 off nicely.

It was so good in fact that WE ARE DOING THE SAME (almost) RUN NEXT WEEK - hopefully without the short cutting and definitely without the killer colada

MOVING ON OVER THE NEXT FEW CORONAVIRUS IMPACTED MONTHS

There has been quite a bit of discussion about whether we should continue to meet on a Wednesday evening and I know some of us have very strong views on this. Some H3 clubs have cancelled or suspended runs for the foreseeable future others have decided on BAU.

Official advisories and conditions and constraints on gatherings are changing daily and we will need to be flexible enough to be responsive to this but for now we have decided that:

  1. LH3 will continue to set a weekly run.
  2. Runs will start and finish in an open space where social distancing is possible.
  3. Circle will be at the end of the run - with down down drinks but there will be no meal provided
  4. Everyone is to bring their own drinking vessels for down down's and other drinks if they want additional drinks
  5. If any members want a meal they can organise it separately - maybe with take away and support a local business.

These are trying times and it is going to be tricky but I sensed enough enthusiasm among members that I am certain we can make this work.

Members must absolutely choose to do what is right for them - come along and take care or withdraw until this period has passed - it is all personal best choice.

Hares may need to step up as members who withdraw are not available to set runs - thanks to those who have already anticipated this and offered 🙏

Finally - as a GM's call and while we are going through this phase - all H3 events organised by Hashers and attended by LH3 members will be official LH3  events - you can sign them in the book and they will count as runs. The logic behind this decision is that H3 is about social connection as much as it is about the runs  and I want to place appropriate value on this. I am assuming that no one will have a real issue with this but if any one does either my GMship or the Coronavirus will have run their course and it will change back.

Thanks everyone for your support and commitment to LH3

Please give thought to the course of action you want to take and do what is best for you.

I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL AT FUTURE RUNS - WHENEVER
